OBEDIENCE

At the center of our text is the connection between saying we love Jesus and showing this love through our obedience to Jesus. Jesus tells us plainly in verses 21 & 23 ─ 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me……23 …. Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching…. Our love for Jesus is made real or expressed in our obedience. In fact, to emphasize this vital and necessary connection, Jesus offers the opposite as also equally as true in verse 24a ─ 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. Pretty simple.
